Fish we have caught: bass, carp, bluegill, catfish, perch, crappie, trout.

You'll never get skunked during duck/goose season on this property!

One day 6 wild turkey came wandering out of our forest…
…walked around our property for about 20 minutes, inspecting everything…

HISTORY

The "Von Trotha Mansion" was built in 1888 by Claus "Claude" Wolfgang Von Trotha and his wife Helene L. Von Trotha. Claus was a Baron in Germany before migrating to the United States. The home, although not considered large by todays standards at just under 3000 finished square feet, was an impressive structure in the day! The Von Trotha's had 9 children, 2 of which, Claude and Bodo, grew up to become know in Weld County as "The Von Trotha Brothers," and formed "Von Trotha Brother's, Inc." They were involved in many aspects of the community and were very inventive. They owned large amounts of acreage in Weld County and did home-steading/tenant style farming. When they passed away, as they were both childless, instead of passing on their many properties to their surviving family, they allowed the tenant-farmers farming their land the opportunity to buy the properties. They also founded the Shark's Tooth Pipeline Company that still services 11 homes along 83rd Avenue and County Road 64 today. They will be forever remembered for their entrepreneurship and their generosity. The brothers inherited the home when they were old enough and the homesteading meetings of Weld County were held in what is now our dining room!

THE HOME, THE LOCATION AND THE GROUNDS

This home is 15.36 acres and backs up to the Poudre River. The area surrounding the home has been professionally landscaped, completed 5/2014. It has a brand new paint job, completed 6/2014 and a new roof, completed 7/2014. The landscaped grounds are maybe 1/2-1 acre, behind that is another 1-1/12 acres of grass land for either play or smaller animals (we raised chickens there) and 2 ponds stocked with fish! Connecting the ponds is a land bridge with a cattle gate at the end, enclosing the back 13ish acres with an electric fence. We have run cattle back there the last 2 years, but it would really be suited to anything! Horses, cows, you name it. It is VERY private acreage with lots of grass and standing water and of course, the Poudre River make the acreage some of the prettiest you have ever seen! On the other side of the Poudre is protected Nature Reserves, ensuring no homes will be built around your private, one of a kind property :)
